Rick Elzinga back on the bike!
The plans of MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 rider Rick Elzinga were shaken up in mid-February when he broke both wrists during the Internazionali d'Italia in Mantova, meanwhile Rick is fortunately back on the bike!
Last Thursday, Rick went to the CWZ Nijmegen for the final check-up with the orthopedist. Everything looked very good and he was officially given the green light to get back on the bike. Elzinga also received good news from the neurologist. He confirmed that the nerve pain that Rick had previously suffered from was not caused by a pinched nerve, but that he had been overstretched by the impact. This could take a few months but it would heal naturally.
Rick Elzinga: “This weekend it was finally time for me to ride my motorcycle again. Very nice to be a rider again! For now we're taking it easy. We take into account the type of track, how long I spend on the bike and the rest between sessions!” Rick completed the first training sessions alone with his father. The Twente talent will now train with other riders again. In this way his arms become stronger again and further building can be done.
Before Elzinga returns to competition, everything must of course be 100% again and his condition must be restored to normal. It immediately became clear that after such a long inactivity you also have to get your hands on it, but Rick is not deterred by that. The way back is now gaining momentum!
