Jorge Prado treats himself to German GP!
17-year-old Jorge Prado (Red Bull KTM) achieved his third GP victory of the season in Teutschenthal, Germany. Prado was joined on the podium by Pauls Jonass (1-2) and Calvin Vlaanderen (HRC-Honda). For Flanders, who had been in excellent form all weekend, it was his first GP podium of the season.
Although Henry Jacobi took a cannon start, Jorge Prado responded immediately. Prado narrowly took the Fox holeshot and the lead in the match. Jonass, who had started third, resolutely chased his teammate.
After the three leaders, the surprising quick starter Andre Zanotti would quickly make way. In a select group of Olsen, Vlaanderen, Watson and Beaton, Clavin Vlaanderen was the fastest in the battle for fourth place. The South African went inside with a TKO and then went looking for Jacobi. It seemed as if Jacobi had caught his breath in his hunt for Jonass, because after the duel with Flanders the German lagged behind to finish eighth. Prado completed the job with routine and won for Prado and Flanders. Although he only finished tenth in the first round, Ben Watson again performed very well. He put pressure on Flanders to eventually cross the line in fourth place, thus respecting the logic of the race day.
Just like in the first heat, Davy Pootjes and Jago Geerts were again in each other's company. This time Pootjes prevailed and finished 9th overall ahead of Geerts. Brent Van Doninck from Herentals now finished 12th, equaling his best end result of the season, eleventh. Micha-Boy De Waal was 17th when he had to leave the race after 8 laps. This time, however, his Jumbo No Fear Vamo Honda teammate Marshal Weltin showed what he could do with a 13th place.
