Jed Beaton remains fifth in the World Championship.
Despite a difficult Latvian Grand Prix, Jed Beaton retains fifth place in the FIM MX2 World Championship standings. The F&H Racing driver finished thirteenth (14-1) on the Kegums sand circuit. His teammate Ruben Fernández-Garcia went like the fire brigade but made mistakes in both heats, meaning he finished sixteenth in the daily rankings. This weekend, and also next week in Teutschenthal, Adam Sterry will have to watch. He suffered an ankle injury during the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Mill. This caused more damage than initially expected and that is why the specialist prescribed two weeks of rest.
The first heat of the weekend over 30 minutes and two laps starts well for Ruben. He can start the race in the top ten and works his way up to eighth place in ten minutes. Jed didn't have a good start to the race, he got involved in the traffic jam in the first corner. Ruben manages to hold on to eighth place for more than twenty minutes, but then he makes a mistake and dives into the loose sand. The 18-year-old Spaniard therefore drops back to seventeenth place, which means he scores four points. After his teammate's fall, Jed entered the top ten, but a little later the Kawasaki rider himself made a mistake. This drops the Leatt-clad rider to fourteenth place and he is clearly disappointed with the result.
The start of the second round goes well for Ruben, who immediately manages to get into the top five. The rider from Northern Spain's Vigo has to battle with Flanders and Jed, who quickly works his way forward. Halfway through the race, Jed is battling Covington for seventh place. The riders hit each other and both crash, leaving them outside the top ten. Under that Arai helmet, Jed smokes with anger and he manages to convert that into speed. From thirteenth place he comes back to tenth place on the last lap. Ruben rides his own race and sets his own pace and crosses the finish line in thirteenth place, moving him up to 21st place in the title race.
