Emil Weckman fourth in the standings after a dramatic Latvian weekend
The third round of the EMX125 championship will remain with Emil Weckman and KTM Diga Junior Racing for a long time. Weckman was second before the weekend in Latvia, just 6 points behind leader René Hofer. As if black magic were involved, the two-time EMX150 champion dropped out of both motos with bad luck.
The 16-year-old Weckman arrived in great shape Kegum. After all, last weekend Emil had taken the lead in the Dutch Masters of Motocross 125cc. The KTM Diga Junior Racing rider also recorded a series victory in Mill.
After a 10de time in the timed training in Kegums, disaster struck just before the first heat on Saturday. Due to a technical defect, the engine stopped working at the start of the warm-up lap. So no Weckman in the match. On Sunday, the promising Finn had to leave the race early because a stone got stuck between the front sprocket. Although Emil left Latvia with zero points, he is still fourth in the EMX125 standings. EMX250 rider Damian Kojs failed to qualify in Kegums.
It takes place next weekend KTM Diga Junior Racing team in Teutschenthal, Germany for the fourth round of the EMX125 championship. Avrie Berry will make an appearance in the third round of the WMX World Championship.
Dirk Saelen team manager KTM Diga Junior Racing: “So much bad luck in one weekend is hard to comprehend... I hope this means we have had all the bad luck for the rest of the season. This is very difficult for Emil and all team members. As a team we also have a special bond with Latvia, so to end the weekend here after a long journey is very sad. Fortunately, we don't have time to dwell on this because next week we'll be back at it again in Germany!”
