Brian Swink is no more...
Brian Swink is no more, the American who made waves in the early 1991s as an emerging talent has passed away today. The man who immediately won the East Coast 125 Supercross title in his rookie season of 1992 and managed to repeat this in XNUMX was struggling with depression and addiction problems.
Brian Swink, a true 80cc phenomenon, makes his professional debut with 5 Loretta Lynn titles under his arm. As a try-out, Brian Swink immediately jumped into the deep end after Loretta Lynn in 1990, he contested four Nationals in 1990, two of which he managed to reach the top ten. However, in his first supercross, Brian Swink really makes an impression, he immediately takes the victory and races to the title that season ahead of Mike Brown, Ryan Hughs, Doug Henry and Tallon Vohland, among others. His strength appears to lie in supercross, although victories in Highpoint, among others, indicate that winning in motocross was also something he could do. In his rookie motocross season, the young man finished fourth and subsequently extended his East Coast Supercross title in 1992.
In the coming years, Brian Swink will just miss the final step. No, the switch to the 250 confronts him with pilots who are slightly stronger, so he is confronted with the fact that his place is between five and ten. Not dramatic and a great career seemed to be waiting for Brian Swink. Until 1997, these good results did not materialize and Brian Swink left the sport disillusioned.
Over the course of his career, the 'SwinkSter' rode for, among others, Factory Suzuki, Honda of Troy and in his final year for the private team Moto XXX. Brian Swink turned 45 years old.
