BK Enduro Rocroi: podiums for Vanderheyden, Van Hoof and Cambré
For the 4th round of the Belgian Enduro Championship, we traveled to France again. The starting point was in the small village of Rocroi. Once again Antoine Magain was the fastest in the scratch. He beat Cédric Cremer and Kevin Gauniaux in the scratch. The Flemish riders also made themselves noticed. Jilani Cambré finished sixth overall and made the podium in E2.
The weather forecast did not look too good in Rocroi, but the weather gods were kind to the 450(!) riders and it remained dry throughout the day. All the ingredients for a great competition. There were 3 rounds of 90 km each on the program with 3 specials per round.
Mathias Van Hoof: “I had already left on Friday afternoon to do some exploring. After Douzy's good result, I was really looking forward to it. Two grass specials and one in-line special looked fantastic. “
The Beta Denicol pilot got off to a good start and immediately achieved a top-10 time in the first test. “In the second test I was surprised, so I made a small slide and lost a few seconds. “The following specials Mathias rode consistently and continued to ride around the top 10 times. “The feeling today was good but not great. Only the in-line enduro special went well for me. There is progress in driving and the feeling is much better than at the start of the season. Unfortunately, the result is not yet as I had in mind. Due to the 2 small mistakes I made today, I immediately lost 6 places in the general classification. I am already looking forward to the round in Chimay to continue the upward trend.”
Van Hoof eventually finished 17th overall and third in E3 after Wim Vanderheyden.
