Herlings grinds opposition into pulp in Germany!
Sometimes superlatives fail to express how strong someone is! This is the case with Jeffrey Herlings this season. The Dutchman made a mesmerizing display in Teutschenthal, Germany!
The KTM pilot managed to quickly take over the lead from Gautier Paulin, who started in the lead, in the first moto, and in the second moto the Dutchman took the holeshot himself, which made it all just that little bit easier! We can briefly summarize what happened next. Jeffrey Herlings humiliated his opponents and ground them into pulp or, to stay with the German theme, into bratwursts.
In the first heat it seemed for a long time that it would be Gautier Paulin who would get the honor of being the first and closest pursuer to cross the finish line. Until a few laps from the end, Tim Gajser squeezed past the Frenchman. Another Frenchman Romain Febvre finished fourth. For Clément Desalle who fought with Antonio Cairoli for the entire match but refused to give in to the Italian! The other lowlanders finished grouped with Jeremy Van Horebeek on seven, Julien Lieber on eight and Glenn Coldenhoff on nine and nicely in the top ten. Nathan Renkens and Jeremy Delincé in turn finished outside the points, while Kevin Strijbos suffered engine trouble after a stone punctured his fuel line.
The second heat had a similar competition story with “The Bullit” as series winner. Behind him, however, we now saw Tim Gajser in second place from the start. At the end of the match, the Slovenian was about half a minute behind Jeffrey Herlings, and that once again told us the dwindling strength of the Dutchman. In third place we got Gautier Paulin, he seemed to finish ahead of Romain Febvre for a long time. His compatriot, on the other hand, made a mistake a few laps from the end, causing the Yamaha pilot to drop to seventh place. As a result, our lowlander, the Belgian Clément Desalle, moved up to fourth place. In this second series he again had to fight for the entire series with the Sicilian KTM pilot Antonio Cairoli, and this time too the Belgian refused to crack and thus came out on top. Antonio Cairoli finished in fifth place ahead of Glenn Coldenhoff and thus the guilty Romain Febvre.
What about the other lowlanders? In lap two, Jeremy Van Horebeek briefly mistook his Yamaha YZ450F for a scooter or trottinette. The young man who, due to a mistake, ended up with both legs on one side of his motorcycle, ran like crazy with his runaway motorcycle to put things right. Unfortunately for him and also for Julien Lieber with whom he came into contact during all this, it was to no avail. Both crashed, leaving Jeremy Van Horebeek out of the race and Julien Lieber only able to finish nineteenth. Kevin Strijbos, who had bad luck in the first moto, now finished in the points in fifteenth place and Nathan Renkens and Jeremy Delincé in turn finished just outside the points in twenty-third and twenty-fourth place.
