Victory for Muilwijk, lead of the NK ladies for Swets.
Lianne Muilwijk won the women's class last Sunday during the MON 24 MX national motocross Wanssum. The lady from Heukelum was the strongest in both heats. In the daily rankings she was ahead of Cynthia Swets (Geldermalsen) and Demi Verploegh (Kerkwijk). With her second place, Swets took over the lead in the standings of the Dutch Championship.
First heat
The best start was for Cynthia Swets ahead of Demi Verploegh and Sam van de Ven (Oirschot). There was a fierce battle for the front positions, especially in the first three laps. Swets was overtaken by Muilwijk. In the battle behind this trio, it was Britt Jans-Beken (Wanssum) who passed Samanta Josta (Gemert) and van de Ven on her “home” circuit. Muilwijk quickly took a lead over Swets, who in turn had to hold off Verploegh. In the seventh lap Verploegh passed Swets and she finished second in the heat behind Muilwijk. Swets came third ahead of Jans-Beken and van de Ven.
Second heat
In the second heat it was Swets again with the best start. She was followed by Josta and Muilwijk. In the first lap Muilwijk and Josta passed Swets and it was Muilwijk who took the lead. After a few laps, Muilwijk had built up a lead of more than 10 seconds and Josta lost her second place to Swets. A little later it was Amber Simons (Well) who knocked on Josta's door. Ultimately, Simons passed Josta for the second time on the last lap and finished third behind Muilwijk and Swets. Josta crossed the finish line in fourth and Jans-Beken crossed the line in fifth.
In the battle for the title, Swets took over the lead from Verploegh with her second place. Simons is 14 points behind Swets in third place.
