Sidecar cross racer Patrick van der Veken passed away
This afternoon we received the sad news that the Belgian sidecarcrosser Patrick van der Veken has passed away.
Van der Veken became unwell last Sunday when he came to a standstill in the final phase of the national sidecar cross in Valkenswaard and tried to put the chain that had fallen off the machine back on. Adequate first aid was immediately provided, but despite all the help, three days later Van der Veken has lost his last match.
In Patrick van der Veken, the sidecar cross world loses an icon who, in addition to driving himself, was mainly committed to helping others. For example, many baking enthusiasts made their first meters with Van der Veken, who enjoyed helping new enthusiastic people take their first steps in the sidecar cross sport.
The entire editorial staff of MXmag wishes Patrick van der Veken's family and friends a lot of strength in the near future!
