What are you doing? Amel Lawyer.
In the section #What are you doing MXMag looks at what former top crossers are doing today. Their family life and their current work. How do they look back on their career, the highs and lows. This time first ex-crosser and later enduro rider Amel Lawyer.
MXMag: Briefly introduce yourself:
AA: My name is Amel Advokaat and I have been living in Wijchen for three years with Marloeke and our two sons, aged five and two.
MXMag: What do you do for a daily living these days?
AA: I have been working as a Brand Manager at Husqvarna Motorcycles since November 2013 and I still work in my father's company VOF V.S.E. Lawyer.
MXMag: How do you look back on your motocross/enduro career?
AA: I had a wonderful time and was able to see a lot of the world. You will mainly visit places that you would not normally go to as a tourist. Without my sport that would not have been possible. And I got to know a lot of people nationally and internationally, and I still benefit from that a lot in my current job.
MXMag: The highlight of your career?
AA: There are so many, but I am very proud of my ISDE medals, the European Enduro victory and my Dutch Enduro titles.
MXMag: The low point of your career?
AA: Without a doubt the many injuries I have had.
MXMag: Best bike ever ridden?
AA: With a bit of luck I had the opportunity to take over Justin Brayton's KTM450 a few years ago. That was really something special!
MXMag: What is your view on the current motocross world?
AA: It's a shame that the Enduro World Championship is coming to an end. In addition, they have now started the World Enduro Super Series (WESS). It's a shame that they are only starting it now and not when I was still active, very nice to have a competition from extreme enduro to beach race. I'm very curious to see who will win the competition.
