Roy Sillien wins VMCF thriller in Zoutleeuw!
Apparently almost all VMCF riders were waiting for the first good weather because Zoutleeuw was full house in all series. A beautiful and exceptionally wide circuit also ensured very tight races where Roy Sillien was able to park his Maris-Suzuki on the highest scaffold.
The first round of the 34 starters was started by Steve Seronval who immediately put the finishing touches on it. Title defender Frederic Weigert responded immediately and rode to second place ahead of Jonas Salaets, Jasper Van Der Mieren and the returning Mike Gilot. But Roy Sillien also joined from the middle bracket with his teammate Mark Boot and Stijn Verstrepen. Sillien in particular went really fast around the track and the spectators were able to spot three leaders halfway through the race. Steve Seronval, however, stayed well out of bounds and won ahead of Roy Sillien, who was able to settle a very fierce duel with Frederic Weigert in his favor in the final laps. Jonas Salaets and Mike Gilot closed the top five ahead of the two-stroke force Mark Boot and Junior Slegers. Kristof Van Vaerenbergh was the best Mx2 pilot after Glenn Gielen dropped out due to engine trouble, and he finished well in the top ten.
The final series was even more exciting than the first because all the favorites were surprised at the start by Dennis Waegemans and Stijn Verstrepen. Mike Gilot, Jasper Van Der Mieren and Mark Boot were also at the front. The top players had all been surprised and Jonas Salaets was even the last to start the assignment. Of the top riders, Frederic Weigert was the first to join and the Honda rider immediately took the lead, but the yellow danger had also appeared in the meantime. The Suzukis of Roy Sillien and Steve Seronval simply jumped past the stunned leader and the battle really started. However, Steve Seronval made a mistake on the third lap and fell back to third place. In the meantime, there were also serious crashes because Mark Boot, Junior Slegers and Kristof Van Vaerenbergh made mistakes. At the front, Roy Sillien did not drop a single spot and won ahead of Frederic Weigert, who sprinted ahead of Steve Seronvalkon. Mike Gilot surprised in fourth place ahead of Jasper Van Der Mieren and Jerome Benonit. Jordy Kenzeler now became the best MX2 rider.
In the final standings, regional driver Roy Sillien was able to book his second victory of the season ahead of Steve Seronval and Frederic Weigert. In the MX2, the regular Bastien Houche was the final winner ahead of Kristof Van Vaerenbergh and Kris Fleerakkers. Next weekend it will be the turn of the Wichelen club to take care of the organization.
