Preview BK motocross & sidecarcross Lommel
According to tradition, people always come across the Lommel sandpit at the start of the Belgian Championship season. The Heeserbergen have now become a regular fixture for the BK riders and it is that time again on April 28 and 29. Organizer MC Evergem is once again joining forces with Mikkola racing for this classic.
On Saturday the Walloon championship will be held for the young people and PCNA riders. Naturally, leisure riders are also very welcome here, so regional riders are also offered a worthy race. All classes are covered, ranging from 50 cc to MX1 and MX2, and leisure riders are also covered in Lommel on Saturday.
However, the main part is on Sunday because the sidecars are in their second Belgian Championship test. After the tough task in Moerbeke-Waas, De Heeserbergen also forms the ideal stage for the World Cup rider to prepare for their GP of Belgium. Just like last year, a number of top foreign players are coming to Limburg. World Cup leader Marvin Van Luchene/Ben Van Den Bogaard defend their leading position in the standings here. A lot is also expected of the young lions Dave Sanders/Andreas Haller en Arne Dierckens/Luc Rostingt who turned out to be scoreless in Moerbeke and therefore now have to do everything they can. The local Kristof Santermans has to lead the rest of the Belgians against a mainly Dutch-tinged opposition, while the duo Delmotte/Verbrugghe will want to confirm their brilliant performance from Moerbeke. The eastern blockers Varik and Cermak, who apparently have their home base in Lommel, can also provide a surprise. So last year's battle can certainly be staged again.
Strong line-up at the Inters
All solo classes will also compete in Lommel, with all eyes on the 500 cc class Dietger Damiaens en Roy Sillien who go all out for the title. However, they have to deal with a lot of home riders such as the returning one Cyril Enjoyment (intro photo), Yentel Martens, Jeffrey Dewulf en Cedric Grobben. Furthermore, it is mainly the names that stand out Jeremy Delince, the French sand specialist Victor Brossier and hopefully also Axel Van de Sande between the participant lists. In the MX2 class there will be a lot of acceleration because of the leading trio Daymond Martens, Erik Willems en Mark Boat will be joined by a fleet of European Championship riders such as the Englishman Jack Bintcliffe who will come to test for the later European Championship test in Lommel.
In the 125 cc class, a number of guest riders from the Belgian teams are also ready to mingle with the Belgian youngsters led by Marnick Lagrou, Wannes Van De Voorde and the club pilot Dailey Of The Heresy. Furthermore, the 250 cc and 500 cc series for Juniors/seniors and the 85 cc are also on the program. It will be a busy weekend on April 28 and 29 at the Heeserbergen in Lommel. The riders' park opens its doors on Friday at 16.00 p.m. Training starts as usual at 08.00 a.m. while the first race starts at 10.00 a.m. on both days. The technology is in the hands of Sanrobi, who also provides a large LED screen so that everyone can easily follow the scores. The place to be this weekend.
