PR: Luca Kuijpers another step higher on the podium.
Last week in Oldebroek, Luca Kuijpers came third during the first race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 50cc. The second race in Rosmalen, the rider from Son en Breugel did better with a second place. Elvis Totney also improved, the Briton finished fifth. Dean Gregoire also managed to improve with a ninth place after a neat debut last weekend in Oldebroek. Sjevy Klokgieter (photo) finished sixteenth in the daily rankings and Kay Karssemakers narrowly missed the podium.
50cc:
In the time training, Luca manages to set the best time, but the KTM rider is unable to convert the pole position into the best start. Luca comes out of the first lap fourth and a little later he manages to pass Cody de Beer. He just cannot pass the British Harley O'Callaghan and Luca comes third. Elvis is able to take fifth place in the second laps and holds on to it until the checkered flag. Later in the afternoon, Luca has a great start and is in the lead for the entire race, but not when the flag falls. In the last round Jenairo Beerens strikes and wins ahead of Luca. Just like his teammate, Elvis also managed to strike in the last lap, he also finished fifth in this round.

Dean will also be in action on Saturday, he will win a match at the AMPL in Libin! Three heats are held, in the first heat the 7-year-old crosser takes third place, but the other heats are won by Dean. In the first heat Dean starts the race very well, but a slide throws a spanner in the works. The rider from Geldrop drops back to tenth place, but manages to make up a spot in the last lap. Sjevy didn't have the best star, but he rode a great race and came back from 24th place to a nice 14th place! Dean starts the second moto in ninth place, but he drops back to eleventh place. The student fights back to tenth place, but in the final phase the Czech Zaremba arrives and takes over tenth place. In the last lap Dean goes on the attack again and with success because he finishes tenth! Sjevy has now had a better start, but after a mistake in the first and second laps he has to be satisfied with sixteenth place.
85cc:
Kay came out of the first round in fourth position and took over third place after almost five minutes of racing. The gap with his predecessors can no longer be bridged and the rider from Boxtel comes third. The start of the second heat is less good, but in the first lap the Alpinestars-clad rider manages to work his way up to fourth place and holds it until the checkered flag.
Next game:
The next match is scheduled for next Saturday, when the points will be distributed in Westerbork, Drenthe.
