KNMV: Kay de Wolf takes over the lead!
Kay de Wolf won the second race of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross on the beautiful circuit of Oldebroek. The Brabander managed to win both heats and is the new leader in the standings. After his victory on Easter Sunday, Liam Everts finished second on Easter Monday ahead of Dave Kooiker (5-3). Kay Karssemakers made it very difficult for De Wolf, he came second in the first heat, but later in the afternoon he dropped out. De Wolf is the new leader after two of the four games!
Birthday boy Ivano van Erp gets off to a great start with the Yamaha, but Tobias Caprani wins the HGS Holeshot Award. However, command is quickly taken over by Karssemakers and De Wolf. The Youth Pro MX rider has the lead on the first lap, but moments later De Wolf makes his move. The Team Beursfoon driver takes over the lead and does not relinquish it. The winner of the first match, Karssemakers, tries everything but the reigning champion is not surprised. Karssemakers comes second ahead of Liam Everts. The Belgian manages to keep the Dutch in his sights in the initial phase, but then has to let them go. Everts comes third ahead of Scott Smulders and Kooiker, who is encouraged by many people close to home.
Caprani also makes the best start in the second round, the Dane also wins the second HGS Holeshot Award. Karssemakers follows in second place ahead of De Wolf, who did not get over the starting gate well but makes up for a lot in the first corner. Immediately in the first heat, Kay and Kay take the leading roles. Karssemakers briefly takes the lead, but before the first lap is completed there is De Wolf. This beautiful duel immediately distances them from the pursuers.
Halfway through the heat, Karssemakers increases the pressure and the leader starts to look around nervously. Karssemakers' first attack is repulsed and then the first stragglers come into view. That's where things go wrong because Karssemakers from Boxtel collides with a straggler and falls. This allows Smulders and Kooiker to pass. Of course Karssemakers gives chase, but moments later he falls silent and disappears from the match! De Wolf then drives to an easy victory for Everts, Kooiker and Smulders again finishes fourth. Edvard Bidzans crosses the finish line in fifth place, we can remember the Latvian from 2016 when he won the EMX65 final in Loket!
The third race of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross will be held in just under five weeks. Then the championship comes to Brabant for the competition at the 'Circuitpark De Kuilen' in Mill.
