KNMV: Jago Geerts takes the top prize in Oldebroek.
Jago Geerts won the second KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross 250cc on a fortunately well-attended circuit 'De Bargen'. The Yamaha rider finished second and first in Oldebroek, ensuring another Belgian day's victory in this class after three years. The last one dates from September 2015 when Damon Graulus won both heats in Oss. At Stichting Circuit Oldebroek, Calvin Vlaanderen (1-2) finished second in the daily rankings ahead of Husqvarna rider Thomas Covington (7-3).

The sprint to the HGS Holeshot Award is won by 17-year-old Geerts, the Belgian makes the best start ahead of Flanders, Covington and the F&H Racing Team duo Jed Beaton and Ruben Fernández-Garcia. The KEMEA Racing driver holds the lead for the first lap, but then Vlaaderen passes by. The Team HRC rider cannot get rid of the student who is biting into the rear fender of the Honda. Beaton briefly moves into third place, but the Australian makes a mistake, giving Covington third place back. The battle at the front continues, but Flanders does not bow down and after almost 10 years he gives South Africa another victory in the first division of Dutch motocross. Geerts comes in second ahead of Beaton and his teammate Adam Sterry. The Briton tried to take third place from Covington after about 15 minutes, but made a mistake. Sterry is now fourth after deciding the fight with fellow countryman Ben Watson in his favor.

In the second round it is Covington who wins the HGS Holeshot Award. He is followed by Vlaanderen, Geerts, Fernández-Garcia while Beaton falls and has to give chase. Geerts is in the lead for the entire race for Flanders, which is second at eleven seconds. Ben Watson briefly held third place, but he collided with Fernández-Garcia, after which the Yamaha rider disappeared from the race. Fernández-Garcia manages to hold on to third place for more than twenty minutes and then Covington arrives. The American finished third, which also gave him third place in the daily rankings. Fernández-Garcia finishes fourth ahead of his F&H Racing colleague Sterry. Beaton returns to seventh place and thus scores the same number of points as Covington and Sterry in the daily rankings. The American is allowed to climb onto the podium while Sterry and Beaton limit themselves to collecting the prize money. Geerts takes over the 'Redplate' from the absent Thomas Kjer Olsen
The KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross will continue on May 6 at the circuit park 'De Kuilen' in Mill.
