Galvin Cup the main event in Stevensbeek this weekend.
Ash. The annual motocross of the MSV St. Anthonis will be held again on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April at the Radiocircuit in Stevensbeek. Competitions for many classes will be held on both days under the flag of the Motorsport Organization Netherlands. Saturday is reserved for the NK Youth, the NK Kids and Sidecars and there is a class for Enthusiasts and a class for Training License Holders 65cc/85cc who, like the other classes, ride two heats.
Toppers in Galvin Cup
In the main program on Sunday April 22, the rounds for the Galvin Cup are the highlight. This five-race cycle was a resounding success in 2017, prompting MON and the sponsors of the Galvin Cup to continue this series in 2018 for Inters MX2 and MX Open class. The first competition in Horst was a great success. There were so many riders that we even had to ride in two groups. The generous prize money for the best 20 drivers in this series is especially attractive. The level is high, the battle is fierce and the audience is the big winner. Last year the Swede Filip Bengtsson won the Galvin Cup, he is no longer there this year. Lars van Berkel, second last year, convincingly won the first round of 2018 in Horst. Mike Gijsbertsen came second ahead of Roy van Heugten and the Finnish top rider Kim Eric Savaste. Kay Ebben from Wilbertoord finished fifth with his Van de Laar Yamaha and is having a strong season. As a member of the organizing association, he owes it to his stand to present himself well. Although the competition is tough, he should still be able to achieve a podium finish on his home circuit. Kay herself hopes to be among the best six or seven: “You don't know in advance who will be at the start.” There will be plenty of competition, the Belgian Roy Sillen finished sixth in Horst ahead of Mike van den Bogaert, Jarno Derks, also a member of the MSV St. Anthonis, Dylan van Veghel and the Finn René Rannikko. Club member Tom Vollenberg from Westerbeek also competes in this class. Lars van Berkel has opted for an ADAC competition in Germany and will therefore not be there this time.
Other classes
A total of five MON classes will compete for championship points. The Ladies ride together with the Veterans. The MSV club members Luca Willems from Boxmeer also ride here together with, among others, Lianne Muilwijk, Amber Simons, Demi Verploegh, Sam van de Ven, Cynthia Swets, Jacqueline Hanegraaf and Britt Jans-Beken. In the Veterans category, Patrick van Breugel won in Horst ahead of Jacky Thijssen and Jeroen Roijakkers, with John Venhuizen from St. Anthonis also riding here. Then there are the MX 2 and MX Open Juniors class with, among others, Thijs Dijk from Boxmeer, Riny Engels from Wanroij and club members Teun Gelden, Jan Verschuijten and Peter Langstraat. In addition, the MX2 and MX Open Seniors will also compete with Sven Giesbers from St. Anthonis and Roy Cuijpers from Boxmeer. In Den Hout Jelle Bankers won both MX2 rounds. Jorn Peeters made the first National Championship his own with a double victory in the Open Seniors. Yorick Beijers, Jeffrey Pennings and Mike Teraa also performed at a high level in Den Hout. Sebastien Gaus from Rijkevoort, Ruud Goossens and Willem van Tilburg from Oeffelt, Roy van Tilburg from Haps and Wilfried van Daal from Wanroij represent the region.
The Radio Circuit is perfectly prepared for the MX weekend, the public can fully enjoy it from beautiful places. The entrance fee is €5 on Saturday and €00 on Sunday
