MX2: Prado back on pole, no success Lowlanders.
On the wonderfully prepared Agueda circuit, Jorge Prado-Garcia once again managed to take pole position. The 17-year-old rider led from start to finish during the qualifying race for the fifth Grand Prix of the season. Thomas Kjer Olsen came second ahead of Jed Beaton, Pauls Jonass and Ben Watson. Little luck for the Lowlanders because Davy Pootjes drops out in ninth place in the second laps. Micha Boy de Waal also does not finish while Bas Vaessen finishes fourteenth. A small bright spot comes from Brent Vandoninck, who finishes eighth, while fellow countryman Jago Geerts crosses the finish line in twentieth.
After his victory last week, Prado-Garcia is looking forward to it. The KTM rider takes the lead ahead of Flanders, Thomas Covington, Jonass and Alvin Ostlund. This is followed by F&H Racing drivers Ruben Fernández, Adam Sterry and Beaton! On the first lap, Jonass takes over third place from Covington, who also sees Fernández pass on the 1600-meter circuit. Another lap later, Jonass takes over second place from Flanders, who then comes under pressure from Fernández! The Kawasaki rider crashes hard a little later but is fortunately able to continue. Jonass made a mistake just in the first half of the race, causing him to drop back to fifth place. Flanders then drops back and he sees Beaton, Jonass and Watson pass successively. The leader in the standings still has to work hard in the final phase to keep the KEMEA rider behind him, but the reigning world champion comes fourth ahead of the Brit.
