A podium spot for Kevin Horgmo!
Under very difficult circumstances, Kevin Hormgo managed to score second place during the Grand Prix of Portugal. The Norwegian finished second during the second round on the Agueda circuit! Due to a poor first round, the CreyMert Racing rider finished tenth in the daily rankings. The victory went to Mathys Boisrame, the British Mel Pocock is the new leader in the standings, where Kevin now occupies eleventh place.
On Saturday morning Kevin managed to set the fastest time, allowing him to start from pole position. The first moto starts very badly for the KTM rider whose rear wheel slips and Kevin ends up in the midfield coming out of the first corner. Like a hot knife through butter, Kevin can quickly work his way into the top ten, but a crash throws a spanner in the works. It takes a lot of time to get the engine running again, but giving up is not an option. Kevin keeps driving and crosses the finish line in 31st place, which earns no points but a lot of respect.
Eager for more success in the second round, the FXR Racing-dressed crosser is now off to a good start. Kevin starts in second place to immediately attack the Pocock. The riders almost collide on the first jump, but luckily it works out for both men. Boisrame is able to pass both and tries to disappear from view. In the second laps Kevin manages to get past Pocock to start chasing the leader. The three second gap is quickly erased and Kevin takes over the lead. Unfortunately, he is unable to hold on and falls briefly in the second half of the race. Boisrame takes the lead again, after which Kevin has to fight back. The final is very exciting, but the Frenchman is no longer surprised and wins ahead of Kevin.
