Dramatic first round for Greg Smets!
The third round of the EMX300 championship started on a low note for Greg Smets. After his victory in Valkenswaard and a second place in Red Sand, Smets was surprisingly second, just four points behind leader Mike Kras.
After finishing eighth in timed practice, Greg reported too late to the start for race one! Smets Jr. Although he was on site, he was confronted with an engine problem just before the start, which meant he was late in the closed park.
The sympathetic Kempen native lost valuable points here and has now dropped to third place in the standings. Smets is 20 points behind Kras for the second round tomorrow and follows 9 points from Brad Anderson. The Estonian Andero Lusbo who won the race today is in turn 4 points behind Smets.
