Countdown to the start of BK Oldtimers, Tildonk on April 14!
Now that all motocross competitions have started their 2018 campaign, it is high time that motocross' most popular division appears at the starting gate.
The Oldtimercross riders are already heading into a new year and will compete in 18 races to determine who will become the Belgian Oldtimercross champion. This competition has been around for years and has become the most popular motocross competition in the country. Despite the fact that many additional classic car competitions have been added in our country in recent years, the BOTC remains a permanent fixture. Last year there were an average of 150 pilots at the start and the number of paying visitors also increased. The BOTC competition is doing well and we certainly want to continue this in the coming years.
The classic car competitions are always held during the JMS and VMCF competitions. With one exception (Moresnet Sunday, May 20), all races are held on Saturday. In addition to the Belgian Championship, there is also the annual “Eddy's Oldtimer Trophy”. In this championship you can collect points during all competitions that are held in collaboration with JMS. The very first meeting for both championships is in Tildonk-Haacht on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
Big names on the list of participants
For many years now, big names from yesteryear have been on the list of participants. The best known is perhaps former GP driver Ivan Van Den Broeck, who adds an extra year of "entertainment" to his rich career. Other celebrities will also participate on occasion. Team MXvintage will also appear at the start again and this time we will do so with six pilots. The Team will receive support for a year from a very well-known name in the motocross world: the meat manufacturer OVI from Olen. Team OVI/MXvintage has several title candidates in its ranks and that is why we are very curious to see how they will do in 2018. For the newcomers, we have listed the basic information. There are five different series in this competition:
- The pre 72 class
- The pre 77 class and Twinshocks 4T Open
- The pre 80 50 and 125cc class
- The Twinshocks class
- The pre 92 class
Of course, there are subdivisions in age for each series. We welcome two newcomers to the 2018 calendar below. These are Bertem, a VMCF competition on April 21 and Bouwel, also VMCF on June 30. Just like last year, the final of the Belgian Championship will be in Reet, where the place will be bursting at the seams with celebrations.
Of course there will be the grand champions ball on Saturday, October 20 in Tongeren as a festive end to the season. It is also there where all champions of the Belgian Championship and Eddy's oldtimer Trophy are honored.
