Martens took a dominant home win in BK Lommel
In 'his Lommel' there was no solution against Yentel Martens. After the VLM competitions in Haacht and Olmen, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider scored another double series victory. Dietger Damiaens finished second (3-2) and thus consolidated his leading position in the BK inters 500. An excellent Nathan Renkens finished third on the podium. At the Inters 250, Daymond Martens was the big winner, winning both motos.
During the timed training, Martens was one second faster than Nathan Renkens, while Dietger Damiaens and Roy Sillien had to allow 2,2 and almost 3 seconds respectively. Yentel also showed the same dominance in the series. In both races “Y-Man” was in the lead from start to finish. The battle for the places of honor also seemed to be settled early, but “turbo-diesel” Damiaens had defeated title rival Sillien after six laps and would easily keep up with Renkens. In the end, the KMP-Honda rider still had 1,5 seconds over the fast Limburger.
Dietger would be successful in the second series. Starting fourth, he first passed Sillien and then Renkens to become second overall. In the standings of the Belgian Championship, Damiaens now leads with 7 points ahead of Sillien.
Following the example of Yentel Martens, ex-Le Touquet winner Daymond Martens - no relation by the way - was clearly too strong for the other quarter-liter drivers. The Yamaha two-stroke rider always won with a lead of more than 16 seconds. In the first round, fast starter Mark Boot was “best of the rest”. The two-stroke hero even led the race until halfway. National champion Tim Louis finished third after a mediocre start.
Louis also delivered a fine performance in the revival. The young Anquety FL Racing Husqvarna pilot rode consistently and took a deserved second place ahead of Bryan Engelen and Mark Boot. Finnish guest rider Emile Weckman (KTM Diga Junior Racing) steered his 125cc egg to a fourth place. After 20 minutes and one lap he finished 1,5 seconds behind reigning Belgian MX2 champion Boot. Also Tallon Verhelst and Wannes Van de Voorde now achieved their best result of the day. They finished 6th and 8th overall respectively. Tallon won the 250 Nationals ahead of Van de Voorde.
