Beaton gives F&H Racing their first GP podium!
Jed Beaton finished on the podium on the Agueda circuit, which was very difficult due to rainfall. The 20-year-old Kawasaki rider finished third at the Portuguese Grand Prix and gave the F&H Racing Team their first GP podium finish! The joy was completed by Adam Sterry and Ruben Fernández-Garcia as they finished seventh and tenth respectively in the overall standings. The complete trio of the South Holland team finished in the top ten during this GP! The victory went to Jorge Prado, Pauls Jonass remains the leader in the standings.
After his poor start on Saturday, Jed is keen on a better start to the race. The Leatt-clad crosser gets off to a very good start and can immediately be found in the leading group. The first lap is completed in third place and when second man Covington leaves the race, Jed ends up in second place. Jonass has been following behind Jed for the entire match, but the Latvian becomes dangerous in the second half of the match. The leader in the World Cup takes over second place, after which Kjer Olsen tries to connect with Jed. This increases the tempo and brings you back to Jonass! The battle for second place lasts all the way to the checkered flag, but Jonass comes second ahead of Jed. Adam started the race in eighth place and halfway through he took fifth place. A duel follows with fellow countryman Watson and he knows how to take full advantage when Adam makes a mistake. Adam tries to come back but he has to settle for sixth place. After his heavy crash on Saturday, Ruben gets on the BO Oil-lubricated KX250F with some bruises. He starts twelfth and manages to hold this position until the checkered flag!
In the second moto another good start from Jed who crossed the first 'jump' in fourth. He follows Kjer Olsen who passes Jonass a little later. Jed can also pass the leader in the standings and follows the Dane. After more than 15 minutes, Watson has found the connection and not much later he takes over third place. The Briton chases the second man but cannot pass him. Jed finishes fourth and is therefore third in the daily rankings. Adam starts in tenth place and has battles with Cervellin and Jacobi. Jonass also appears for a moment, but he is able to get Jacobi back. Adam crosses the finish line in ninth place, placing him seventh in the overall standings. For Ruben, Agueda is more or less his home race because he lives more than 200 kilometers from the circuit. It is more than 1000 kilometers from his city of Vigo to Redsand. Supported by many fans, Ruben rides a great second round, he seems to be fourteenth, but in the last lap he manages to pass the Belgian Geerts and thus becomes thirteenth! He then looks with satisfaction at the podium where his teammate is being honored. He would really like to take a seat there later this season!
Next game:
After a series of busy weekends, the F&H Racing Team will have no competitions next week. The next GP will be held in Russia on April 30 and May 1!
