Preview: GP Sidecars Oss, legendary in advance!
On Sunday, March 25 in Oss, Brabant, it will be determined who will win the first World Championship round of the 2018 World Sidecar Cross Championship. The day before, however, the more than forty registered combinations must be within the top 30 through qualification in order to be able to participate in the first two rounds of the 2018 Sidecar Cross World Championship.
Normally a preview with analysis of the participants would be appropriate, but it would be almost exactly the same as the preview previously published here about the very first ONK Sidecar Masters in Lochem, which was held on March 4. After all, all the top teams were present there and we already saw a fantastic, chilling spectacle won by the British Brown/Millard. However, due to the track conditions, the track was hard and slippery due to the frost, there was no comparable image at all with a 'sand' cross as we normally see in the Netherlands. For this first Grand Prix sidecar cross of 2018, it is therefore more interesting to look at the place of action than to compare apples and oranges.
The legendary circuit 'De Witte Ruysheuvel' in Oss in sidecar cross country, where drama and excitement go hand in hand with disappointment of top riders and joy of outsiders, is the venue for a GP sidecar cross approximately every two years.
The place was once an ordinary garbage dump. At the time, a lot of sand was thrown on it and later the cross circuit of the MC Oss was created there.
The circuit requires an enormous amount of technical ability from both rider and driver due to the loose sand, the different lines that one can take on the wide circuit and the constantly changing tracks on the track. The width of the track also means that you can make a good overtaking attempt in various places in Oss, even or even with a sidecar.
In addition, Oss has unusually high ascents and descents by Dutch standards, with the first immediately following the fall of the starting gate when one rushes up the hill twice fifteen rows deep filled with World Cup sidecars. The large crowd of spectators at this GP has a good view of the cross track from almost everywhere and the organizing MC Oss always has everything perfectly organized.
Throw all these ingredients into a large bowl and whisk them into one large whole to create a mix for yet another legendary Grand Prix Sidecars in Oss!
To refresh your memory or to clarify what kind of action took place previously in Oss through this mix of beautiful sidecar cross ingredients, we take you to what has happened during the past ten years of GP sidecars at 'De White Ruysheuvel'!
First, however, it is time for the cracks on two wheels who will be in action this weekend during the Valkenswaard GP.
When the clouds have cleared, we will bring you an item with spectacular images from ten years of GP sidecar cross Oss every day around 19 p.m. next working week!
