PR: Two handfuls of points for John Cuppen.
John Cuppen managed to score two handfuls of points at the beautiful Redsand MX Park. The Brabander returns home with ten points and is also doing well in the standings. The second race of the European 300cc Championship was won by Mike Kras, he won both heats under the Spanish sun.
After his fourteenth training session, John confidently entered both heats over 25 minutes and two laps. Unfortunately, the start of the first moto is not that good, so the KTM rider is included in the midfield. Fortunately, the former IMBA Champion quickly managed to establish himself in the top twenty. He then chooses the rear wheel of Daymond Martens who works his way forward and takes John with him. Martens has already won the Le Touquet Beach Race, the most famous beach race in the world, and John will not let him go. Both riders are able to work their way to the front and that gives John sixteenth place during the first heat of the weekend.
The start of the second heat is better, the first lap ends in sixteenth place. One lap later, the rider from Escharen scores a spot. Battles follow with Tallon Verhelst and Damian Wedage for fifteenth place. The riders do not spare each other and that results in a wonderful race that Wedage decides in his favor. He finished fifteenth ahead of John, who again managed to take five points for the championship.
Next time:
The EMX300 will continue in Russia on May 1, where Janssen Products Racing will not be present. The next race for John on the Janssen Products-KTM is on June 2-3 at the beautiful Matterly Basin circuit near Winchester.
