MXGP: Tim Gajser wins qualifying in Redsand, Spain!
Could the qualification in Spain be won again by Jeffrey Herlings like in Argentina, or did Antonio Cairoli win his first qualifying series of the season? That was mainly the track that was followed by the motocross public before the start of the third qualifying series of the season. However, just like in Valkenwaard with Jeremy Van Horebeek, there was also a privateer on the coast in RedSand for the KTM boys!
Because neither Jeffrey Herlings nor Antonio Cairoli were eligible for victory this time! This went to Tim Gajser, who after taking the holeshot had his hands full keeping Romain Febvre behind him for the entire moto. The HRC Honda pilot made sure that all holes and doors remained closed and that Romain Febvre did not overtake him. The Frenchman finished in second place at barely three seconds. Third place went to Gautier Paulin who, having passed Jeffrey Herlings in the extreme, stayed ahead of Antonio Cairoli. Jeffrey Herlings finished fifth. The best Belgian in the qualifying round was Clément Desalle in eighth place.
