Meet Sam van de Ven (MON)
Sam van de Ven starts the new season with confidence this weekend. It will be a very busy year for the eighteen-year-old student from Oirschot. She is in her last year of secondary education, in other words her final year, so a lot of work and internships. But Sam also wants to raise the bar even higher in cross-country after an excellent 2017 season!
Sam, the youngest of three children in the Van de Ven household, never misses an opportunity to show what she can do. Only started competing competitively in 2015, and in 2016 she took the step to the IMBA ladies for the Netherlands team. Sam started her new challenge with confidence and achieved great results until she had a hard crash in Venlo. An inactivity of more than 4 months wiped out her account. But in silence he worked his way back. Last season she surprised everyone with a third place in the MON women's championship.
This weekend marks the start of yet another new challenge for Sam. First of all, she managed to combine her studies and internships with the cross. But on the other hand - and this is what she is most concerned with - doing even better cross-country. The cheerful Sam has exchanged the KTM for the heavier Honda CRF 250R. Van de Ven hopes this will further reduce the gap with the frontrunners. She wants to do her utmost again to win the Dutch title at the MON this year.
Would you like to see Sam at work this weekend? Then you have to go to Biest-Houtakker where the new MON season is getting underway. On Sunday evening we will know whether Sam has already mastered the new Honda and whether she can go to Oirschot with the flowers. Sam hereby thanks all sponsors and her family who give her the opportunity to practice her sport in the best possible conditions. In addition, thanks to all supporters and friends. And we conclude with the words of Sam himself “Dream it, Do it and Never give Up”!
