FIM: Pauls Jonass also the boss in Spain.
It is clear that Paul's Jonass is currently in top form. The KTM rider managed to win the qualifying race at the Redsand MX Park ahead of Jorge Prado-Garcia and Darian Sanayei. The best Dutchman in sunny Spain was Bas Vaessen, who crossed the finish line in thirteenth place. Brent Vandoninck finished 19th and was therefore the best Belgian.
In front of his own audience, Prado-Garcia takes the best start ahead of F&H Racing driver Adam Sterry, Jonass, Sanayei and his compatriot Thomas Covington. Jonass quickly storms forward and I am able to take the lead on the second lap. Sanayei passes Kawasaki colleague Sterry and then increases the pressure on Prado. They don't give up easily and because of that duel they catch up with leader Jonass. This makes it an exciting final, but Jonass wins ahead of his KTM colleague Prado and Sanayei. The Dane Thomas Kjer Olsen comes fourth, but only 3,6 seconds behind the winner. Fifth place goes to Australian Hunter Lawrence, who finished just four seconds behind the winner. Jago Geerts does not get further than 21st place and Davy Pootjes sends his LRT-KTM in 25th under the checkered flag.
Both MX2 rounds will be broadcast entirely LIVE on MotorsportTV at 13 p.m. and 16 p.m. This weekend on Eurosport2 only attention will be paid to the second heats, at 17 p.m. the MXGP followed by the second heat of the MX2. Both MXGP competitions can be followed via the NOS Studio Sport website, but Playsport Telenet customers can watch via TV.
