EMX: Hofer immediately lives up to his role as favorite
Before the start of the championship, all eyes were on Rene Hofer, and the young Austrian immediately fulfilled this role of favorite in the first series of the championship.
The Austrian KTM factory pilot managed to dominate the race from start to finish. The only one who could make any move to approach Rene Hofer in this first series was Emil Weckman. The latter, driving for the Belgian Diga, recorded the fastest lap time of the race and finished in second place at eight seconds. The podium was completed in this first heat with Spaniard Mario Lucas Sanz who managed to turn a strong start into a great result. We found the best lowlander in sixth place with Brian van der Klij. Other Dutchmen Raf Meuwissen and Loeka Thonies also managed to score points with an eleventh and thirteenth place. The other title favorite Tom Guyon in turn finished eighth. We conclude with the painful realization that not a single Belgian managed to qualify.
We are already looking forward to tomorrow's second series, can Rene Hofer confirm whether Emil Weckman will keep him from winning overall? Or does something unpredictable happen on the tough course? It just might be possible.
