EMX: Goupillon the most regular in Spain.
The moto wins went to REVO Husqvarna thanks to Mel Pocock and Martin Barr. However, the day's victory went to Pierre Goupillon, the Frenchman (photo) won the first race of the European 250cc Championship thanks to a third and second place. Compatriot Tom Vialle (2-4) came second ahead of the British Pocock (1-9). The only Laaglander who managed to qualify was Roan van de Moosdijk, the Yamaha rider finished eighth in the overall standings.
The best start during the second round goes to Goupillon, the BUD Racing rider takes the best start ahead of the Dane Nicholas Bjerregaard and the 125cc World Champion Gianluca Facchetti. Van de Moosdijk starts the race in fourth place, but he sees Vialle pass and crash himself a little later. Goupillon has a firm lead at the front, but after Bjerregaard makes a mistake, Barr can take over second place. The Irishman has a high pace and he manages to take the lead in the last minute of the race. Goupillon comes second and that is enough for the day's victory. Former GP rider Tropepe finishes third ahead of Vialle and Brian Strubhart-Moreau, meaning three French riders finish in the top five. Moreau had to fight hard against Kevin Horgmo, the Norwegian shows his front fender but the Frenchman finishes fifth ahead of the CreyMert Racing rider who is making his debut on the SX250F. Van de Moosdijk falls briefly and therefore has to be satisfied with thirteenth place.
