First MCLB top match in Assenede!
A week later than expected, they start at the MCLB in Assenede in East Flanders. This promises to be an extremely fascinating confrontation. After the super exciting battle between David Segers and Wietse Brackman (intro photo) last year, everyone is already looking forward to the sequel! But you can also expect fireworks in the MX2.
About the new one 'Medical Car' which will from now on be included in the VJMO and MCLB competitions, we mentioned it before. In addition, the timetable was also slightly adjusted. For example, the Novices Open B + Women's Open now open the Sunday competition program and the Casual Riders are programmed between the Novices MX2 and Promised MX2. You can find all practical information read here. The key question for next weekend is of course what can we look forward to in terms of sport?
Again Segers Vs. Brackman?
In the elite, we had a thrilling duel for the title in 2017 between David Segers and Wietse Brackman, narrowly won by the former. The expectation is that both will once again emerge as the title candidates to beat. Although they will have to come out strong! So will Damon Graulus will now make his MCLB debut on Sunday. Jeffrey Dewulf may choose the Dutch Masters in Markelo, but “JD123” will certainly participate in MCLB competitions again!
We can also expect La Chinelle winner Kevin Fors again here and there. There is no shortage of outsiders. With Maarten Govaert, Torpjurn Van Hoe, Jorne Tytgat, Dylan Verleysen, Junior Decouter, Mattis Meersschout, Jaimy Deleersnyder, Kenny Dult and Sven Roelandt, there are certainly enough fast men. Each with their goals or motivation to do better than last year! Jens Bleyaert and Gilles Tack are back.
Jurgen Wybo, favorite for the MX2 title!
Jurgen Wybo for his part returns to his old love, the MX2. In his last active season, Woby wants to go all out for the title again. The two title pretenders from last season, Tim Vandriessche en Jérôme Biets, were immediately warned. Moreover, B champion Henson Lievens already showed great examples of his skills last year. Hopefully Yente Dourte and Gian Scheele will have more luck in the new season. Dennis Van Hul and youngster Bo Declercq are also present again. An open battle can also be expected in the B class with the two PhD students Stanley Verstraete and Gianni Vercammen versus the established values including Nicky Vemoesen, Damon Tanghe, Yann Meulemeester, Greg Demeulemester, Michiel Vercauteren, Greg Vullers, Nick Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker.
The Quads will also be busy with quite a few young and not so young talents who will strengthen the already strong field of participants. Moreover, more and more ladies are gradually finding their way to VJMO and MCLB. Both the Ladies Open on Saturday and the Ladies Open on Sunday can welcome quite a few new faces. In the MCLB, VJMO champion Celien Dewulf, multiple M.C. Lille champion Shaney Truyts and several colleagues make an appearance.
In short, let the show begin!
