What are you doing? Jacob Barth.
In the section #What are you doing MXMag looks at what former top crossers are doing today. Their family life and their current work. How do they look back on their career, the highs and lows. The first ex-cross rider is Jacob Barth!
MXMag: Please introduce yourself briefly
JB: Jacob Barth, 48 years old and living in Doetinchem, Gelderland.
MXMag:What do you do for your daily sandwich these days?
JB: In daily life I run 'Autohandel en Autorecyling Barth', also located in Doetinchem.
MXMag:How do you look back on your motocross career?
JB: Very good, I had a great time and rode for great teams. I have been able to compete against the best riders in the Netherlands and have also been active in the Grand Prix.
MXMag: The highlight of your career?
JB: I can't say it's a highlight, I think with great pleasure of the many hours we spent on and off the circuits.
MXMag: The low point of your career?
JB: That is without a doubt missing the KNMV ONK title in 1993. I was only one point behind, but unfortunately the last race was not held. I would have loved to dedicate that title to my father.
MXMag: Best bike ever ridden?
JB: The CR125 and not specifically one year but years. From 1987 to 1990 I rode for Venko Honda and from 1992 to 1994 for Van de Heyden Motors and that bike was great. Achieved my best results with it.
MXMag:How do you view the current motocross world?
JB: Of course it has all changed in recent years, it is mainly about money and power. Apart from these facts, it is of course a great sport to watch. It is a feast for the eyes to see Jeffrey Herlings, Glenn Coldenhoff and Nancy van de Ven at work in the World Championship. I naturally wish all Dutch people the best of luck in their quest for great results.
Thanks for your time 'Yes Kop Start'!
