TBT: The next series of injuries in the USA.
It's #ThrowBackThursday Today we go back to February 1, 2002. Nobody knows why, but this season there are a lot of injured riders! After Chad Reed, Steve Lamson and Bobby Bonds, Tyler Evans, Tim Ferry and Mik Craig have now also been injured.
The second race at Husqvarna, replacing Lamson, went badly for Evans. He fell on the washboard and broke his collarbone. Suzuki rider Craig crashed during Friday training and broke his foot. He hasn't broken anything, but we won't see Ferry in action this weekend either. He crashed during his semi-final in Phoenix and suffered a bruised lung. The Yamaha rider also had to miss the first race in Anaheim due to an injury.
Both Bonds and Justin Smith are currently in stable condition. It is not clear for both riders whether they will suffer permanent damage from their injuries.
There is also good news from the USA thanks to David Pingree. The KTM rider suffered a serious crash in Phoenix. His machine even broke into two pieces, but 'Ping' can simply appear at the start in Anaheim this weekend.
