Mechanics: Marc Zalmstra
The drivers are always in the spotlight, no matter how good they are. Without a good mechanic, the motocross bike cannot achieve its performance. That's why we want to put a technician in the spotlight once a month. That is this month Marc Zalmstra.
MXMag: Introduce yourself:
MZ: Marc Zalmstra, now 24 years old and living in Rosmalen near Den Bosch.
MXMag: How did you get into motocross:
MZ: I have always had an interest in technology and engines through an old acquaintance.
MXMag: Which riders/teams have you worked for:
MZ: I started at HNR and worked for private clients. After that I started working for Team CLS-Kawasaki and therefore entered 'competition' and then moved to F&H Racing. I have collaborated with Alessandro Lupino, Jimmy Decotis, Lars van Berkel, Ruben Fernandez and David Herbreteau.
MXMag: What is your position within your current team:
MZ: At the F&H Racing Team I am responsible for the engine blocks of all riders.
MXMag: Highlight as a mechanic:
MZ: Without a doubt, third place in last season's EMX250 with Ruben Fernandez, immediately followed by victory with Lars van Berkel during the EMX250 of Lommel in 2015.
MXMag: Favorite Tool:
MZ: Everything from SnapOn.
MXMag: Never stand in the pit lane without:
MZ: My pit lane tire
MXMag: Best pit board shout:
MZ: It should be short, but I don't have a best slogan.
MXMag: Prefers to tinker with two-stroke or four-stroke:
MZ: 4-stroke
MXMag: Who is the world champion among mechanics:
MZ: The best mechanic, myself 😉
MXMag: Finest GP:
MZ: The first home GP of the season is Valkenswaard.
