AMA: Anderson beats Roczen in a beautiful match.
The Oakland Alameda County Coliseum was shaking to its foundations during the duel for victory. Jason Anderson en Ken Roczen fought a great duel during the fifth round of the MonsterEnergy AMA Supercross Championship. The Husqvarna rider managed to decide this in his favor. The German came second for 'private driver' Blake Baggett. Marvin Musquin managed to score well with a fourth place, Eli Tomac did not get further than thirteenth place.
When the starting gate goes down for the final, Cole Seely takes the best start ahead of teammate Roczen and Baggett, who briefly manages to pass the German. Not a good start for Anderson who comes out of the first lap sixth, followed by Eli Tomac. The Kawasaki rider is not feeling well in the race and he sees teammate Josh Grant passing. The joy is short-lived because the Kawasaki riders crash separately shortly afterwards. Marvin Musquin and Anderson have now passed Baggett. Halfway through the race, Seely has exactly two seconds ahead of Roczen and more than four ahead of Musquin. The Frenchman collides with Anderson, causing the KTM rider to fall. At the same time, leader Seely makes a mistake and that gives Roczen the lead. The 23-year-old German has more than five seconds ahead of Anderson and the first victory of the season seems within reach. However, Anderson thinks differently and manages to fight his way back to the rear wheel of the Honda. In a great battle, Anderson manages to take the lead and wins in Oakland!
