SX: Tyler Bowers already assured of the ADAC SX Cup.
With one more match to go Tyler Bowers has secured the ADAC SX Cup 2017-2018. The American won the final on Friday evening and can no longer be overtaken by the competition. In the 'Westfalenhallen' became Florent Richier second for Dominique Pascal Thury. By the victory of Julien Lebeau the title battle in the SX2 has not yet been decided!
After winning the Bar2Bar competition, Florent Richier managed to get the best start during the first final of the weekend. The Frenchman is followed by Dennis Ullrich, Nicholas Schmidt, Bowers and the Australian Kade Mosig. By taking the outside bend, Ullrich can cross the 'rhythm section' at speed, allowing the German to take the lead! In the first lap Bowers managed to get past compatriot Schmidt, after which the Kawasaki rider sought to connect with Richier. The Suzuki rider manages to take advantage of a mistake that Ullrich makes in the second lap. Bowers is also able to pass the 2-stroke rider, after which the duel for the leading position begins. Richier feels Bowers' hot breath on his neck and halfway through the finale the 'redplate' holder strikes. He takes over and never looks back! Richier comes second but the battle for third place brings the crowd to the benches. Thury rides a great finale and, after Ullrich, also manages to pass former champion Schmidt. For a moment it seems that Thury is going to connect with Richier, but Richier doesn't let that happen. Thury comes third ahead of Christophe Martin and Ullrich. There was no place in the final for the Dutch Jeffrey Meeurs and Bram van der Hoek. The same applies to the Belgian Jens Getteman.
In the 15-lap final, Lebeau takes the best start ahead of Gradie Featherstone and Dylan Walsh. The leader in the standings, Iker Larranaga-Olano, has not had the best start and comes out of the first corner in sixth position. The Spaniard and former champion quickly worked his way up to fourth place and was able to pass teammate Walsh on the second lap. Featherstone manages to hold on to second place for the first half of the race, but Larranaga-Olano is faster and can make up a place again. Leader Lebeau has a lead of more than four seconds with eight laps to complete. The Husqvarna rider tries to find the connection, but Lebeau does not let that happen. The Frenchman wins ahead of Larranaga-Olano and the New Zealander Walsh. The title battle is still exciting, Larranaga-Olano still has an eight-point lead over Lebeau!
In the 125cc class, Mario Lucas Sanz won ahead of 18-year-old Bo de Clerq and Roel van Ham, who we will see in action next week in Goes. Van Ham, who has lived in Germany for years, will compete in the Zeelandhallen for GJV Racing.
The 85cc competition was won by Paul Bloy, he managed to stay ahead of Carl Ostermann and Nick Domann completed the podium.
