Finally: Kevin Strijbos officially at Standing Construct KTM!
Better late than never, we say. Through a press release Standing Construct KTM today that Kevin Strijbos has signed an agreement with the team for the 2018 MXGP season.
The Belgian rider had a difficult 2017 season due to some injuries, but he finished the season strongly. In the last GPs, Strijbos has proven that he is still a top 5 candidate. After a total of almost 7 years in his previous team, Strijbos will start in the MXGP World Championship on a bike from the factory-supported Belgian KTM team.
Kevin Strijbos: “I am very happy to sign a contract with Standing Construct KTM. In the past the team has proven that they were a GP-winning team in MX2, that they were highly professional and well-organized and had the know-how and infrastructure to compete at the highest level. I had some good offers from other teams, but with the Standing Construct KTM team I have the guarantee that I will get factory support and that they will do everything necessary to perform at the highest level. That was the deciding factor and I quickly decided to do business with them. I would like to thank Sylvain Geboers for everything he has done for me. He was the one who took me to the top of the world in motocross many years ago and he has continued to believe in me all these years.”
Tim Mathys / Standing Construct KTM: “Kevin has proven throughout his career that he is a great driver. He always showed that he is perfectly capable of achieving great results when he feels good on the bike and with his team. Kevin is one of the more experienced riders in the MXGP paddock, yet he still has a lot of ambition. We are confident that we can provide him with the equipment and environment he needs. When the news broke that we would be returning to the MXGP paddock, I was approached by a lot of riders. However, Kevin gave me the most motivated and “hungry” impression. I am convinced that thanks to the combination of our experience and Kevin feeling good, we will have a strong 2018 season.”
