Charles LeFrancois takes victory in Manchester!
Last Saturday evening the starting shot for the British Arenacross Championship was given in the beautiful Manchester Arena! The hall was full for names such as Cedric Soubeyras, Evgeny Bobryshev, Dan Reardon, Cyril Coulon, our own Mike Kras and reigning Arenacross champion Thomas Ramette.
Just like in the extremely competitive German supercross championship, in this British Arenacross championship we saw some surprises before the start of the final! For example, the two supercross specialists Cedric Soubeyras and Thomas Ramette had to qualify for the final via the LCQ-Head-To-Head race. Fortunately, both succeeded, but the one who could not qualify for the final was Evgeny Bobryshev. Mike Kras also did not reach the final, he met the slightly stronger Adam Chadfield in the Head-To-Head LCQ.
In this final with names like Dan Reardon, Cyril Coulon, Fabien Izoird, Adam Chadfield, Adrien Escoffier, Elliot Banks-Browne and others, it was the Frenchman Charles LeFrancois who took the holeshot. He was soon followed by the Suzuki duo Cyril Coulon and Thomas Ramette. The match started less well for the other favorites such as Dan Reardon and Cedric Soubeyras. The Australian soon came into contact with a competitor, which completely destroyed his reasonable start. Cedric Soubeyras had to go back to work after a bad start.
While the French Buildbase Honda pilot Charles LeFrancois rode authoritatively to victory at the front, behind him we had a duel between the two teammates. Thomas Ramette challenged his Suzuki buddy Cyrille Coulon, but he in turn refused to budge. As a result, both gentlemen rode solidly to a podium place. A strong start to the championship, behind them Cedric Soubeyras was busy saving his championship. The French SX-Tour champion, who has some honor to defend when we talk about indoor motocross, fought his way to the front and placed his Fro Systems bike in fourth place, ahead of Fabien Izoird. This meant that the first five places, and with Adrien Escoffier even the first six places, in this first main event of the British Arenacross Championship were manned by French specialists of the more spectacular work. Best Brit was Jack Brunnell in seventh place.
