AMA: Aaron Plessinger takes back the lead.
In the University of Phoenix Stadium heeft Aaron Plessinger the fourth game of the AMA Supercross Championship 250F WestCoast won. In the American football stadium of the Arizona Cardinals Shane McElrath second for Adam Cianciarulo (photo). Fourth place of Joey Savatgy is not enough to keep the lead, the 'Redplate' goes back to Plessinger.
From the outside, Savatgy has the best start, he had to qualify for this final through the last chance. The Kawasaki rider wins the Holeshot Award ahead of McElrath, Plessinger and his Star Racing teammate Mitchell Oldenburg. This trio immediately distances themselves and in the second laps McElrath manages to take the lead. The 23-year-old rider from West Canton (North Carolina) tries to distance himself, but Plessinger sees the danger. The Yamaha rider also passes Savatgy and joins the leader. Plessinger's first attack after five minutes of competition is repulsed by the KTM rider. Not much later, Plessinger, who celebrated his 22nd birthday last Thursday, managed to take the lead. Cianciarulo has now displaced Oldenburg from fourth place and is looking for his teammate. In the second half of the race, 21-year-old Cianciarulo is clearly faster than Savatgy and it almost comes to a duel for the last podium spot. Due to a mistake by Savatgy, Cianciarulo can take over third place with two minutes left. The 23-year-old Savatgy comes fourth ahead of the very strong rookie Chase Sexton. Plessinger takes back the lead, but his lead over McElrath is only two points, fourth man Cianciarulo is 16 points behind.
