AMA: Aaron Plessinger takes victory and the redplate.
In Houston heeft Aaron Plessinger won the second race of the MonsterEnergy AMA Supercross Championship WestCoast. The Yamaha rider (photo) won in the NRG Stadium about this Joey Savatgy en Chase Sexton! A special achievement by Sexton because it is only the Honda rider's second Supercross competition! Last week's winner, Shane McElrath, now comes fourth and loses the 'Redplate' to Plessinger.
When the starting gate goes down, Savatgy takes the lead ahead of earlier evening winners McElrath and Adam Cianciarulo. Cianciarulo manages to pass the KTM rider after which he chases teammate Savatgy. However, the move to take over the lead does not go as planned and Cianciarulo slips. Plessinger has now opened the attack on McElrath who makes a mistake and that gives the Yamaha rider second place. After twelve laps Plessinger manages to connect with the leader after which a duel ensues. A small mistake by Savatgy puts Plessinger wide and he can pass with a big jump. Savatgy then comes under pressure from his teammate again, but Cianciarulo makes the mistake again! This allows Sexton to cross the finish line in third place, to the delight of his team! Mcelrath comes fourth ahead of Christian Craig, who was injured first this week.
