AXUK: French dominance again in British Arenacross!
New round, new opportunities. A saying that is not only true for boxing or other combat sports, but also for Arenacross! The third round of Arenacross UK took us to Birmingham. With new signings Nico Aubin, who will fill in for the injured Angelo Pellegrini, and former European Supercross champion Gradie Featherstone. But as well as established names such as Thomas Ramette, Cyrille Coulon, Cedric Soubeyras, Hugo Basaula and others…
In one of the large arenas and on one of the harder surfaces we saw the pilots specialized in supercross appear more prominent in the results. For example, we already saw in the time qualifying that Australian Dan Reardon had a good time for the first time since his arrival in Great Britain. He set the first time in his group, ahead of Cyrille Coulon, Hugo Basaula and reigning champion Thomas Ramette, among others! The Australian also continued this strong performance in the qualifying series with two victories.
However, these qualifying series towards the final did cause problems for newcomers Nico Aubin and Gradie Featherstone. Both saw their evening cut short by a poorer performance in these heats and an unsuccessful Head-To-Head LCQ! Those who still had problems in the qualifying series were the Russians Evgeny Bobryshev and Adrien Escoffier, but both were able to save themselves by performing strongly in the LCQ. The British favorite Ashley Greedy was saved by the organization so that these three, together with Dan Reardon, Thomas Ramette, Hugo Basaula, Cyrille Coulon, Cedric Soubeyras and others, could decide who in the final the strongest bear of the gang and who was a scared, scared monkey!
Thomas Ramette is recovering
When the gate fell, it was Thomas Ramette who showed himself to be the fastest bear! He took the holeshot ahead of his teammate Cyrille Coulon. This kept the pressure on Ramette, but the multiple arenacross champion did not crack under the pressure and rode to victory. A great revenge on himself and his poor result from last weekend! Cyrille Coulon finished a close second.
Behind these two Frenchmen, it seemed for a long time that it would be Cedric Soubeyras who would finish third. However, until he fell away just after the halfway point of the match. In doing so, he cleared the way for Fabien Izoird who happily took the last place on the podium. Cedric Soubeyras in turn came back nicely to sixth place, behind Hugo Basaula, who was once again riding strongly, in fourth place and Charles Le Francois in fifth place. The brand new BOS MXGP pilot Evgeny Bobryshev finished in seventh place. Dan Reardon, in turn, was unable to convert his strong performance from the qualifications into a good result in the final, he finished twelfth and therefore last.
