Also Jett Lawrence in 2019 to GEICO Honda.
It was previously announced that the MX2 revelation Hunter Lawrence signed a long-term contract with GEICO Honda. His little brother jett is now following the same trajectory and will also compete for the new 2018 Motorsports Honda team in 114 and then move to the US in 2019 with GEICO Honda.
The 14-year-old Jett was always rumored to be perhaps even better than his older brother. Jett also had a Suzuki deal that would last until 2018 and the EMX250 series. A press release from GEICO / Factory Connection Honda explained that Jett will head to the US as an amateur in 2019, to then determine when he will turn pro. That could be as early as 2020.
“We have done our research and spoken to many people in both Australia and Europe, and they all believe Jett is the real deal“, said GEICO Honda manager Dan Betley. “We look forward to having both Hunter and Jett with us from 2019 and teaching them all about racing in America.”
The Factory Connection Honda amateur team – a division of GEICO Honda – has launched the careers of many top riders, starting with Trey Canard, Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac and Blake Wharton. That “production line” now continues with guys like RJ Hampshire and Chase Sexton.
