Jumbo No Fear Vamo Honda with Marshal Weltin and Micha Boy De Waal
Jumbo No Fear Vamo Honda enters 2018 with the brand new Honda CRF250R. The Belgian team will once again compete in the FIM MX2 World Championship with the popular Micha Boy De Waal. De Waal will have the fast American Marshal Weltin next to him as a teammate.
The collaboration with No Fear Energy drink also continues. The well-known No fear logo will be seen on the motorcycles, the riders' equipment and everything that is visible of the Vamo Honda Racing Team. In addition, the team that won the EMX2010 title in 250 will be strengthened with the arrival of Jumbo supermarkets. The fastest growing supermarket in the Netherlands once again shows its support for motorsport.
De Waal came on board in 2017 as a replacement for Lars Van Berkel when he in turn joined Team HRC Honda. The 22-year-old driver from Veen has raced in his own country for the past two yearsCRF450R. In the strong Dutch Masters of Motocross, De Waal finished eighth in the MX1 this season. Micha also rode 12 Grand Prix in MX2 with Vamo Honda. This allows him to start 2018 with a solid foundation within a strengthened team structure.
In addition to De Waal comes newcomer Marshal Weltin. The promising American will switch to the new CRF2018R for 250. Last season, the 22-year-old driver from Michigan combined the EMX250 and the MX2 World Championship. In the very competitive EMX250 he finished 6th in the final standings. Weltin stood on the podium in Agueda, Portugal and narrowly missed out on a second podium when he lost to Assomotor Honda's Mathys Boisrame in Switzerland. Due to his strong results, Weltin was able to participate in the Czech GP with a wildcard. Marshal immediately made an impression with an impressive 9th place.
The MX2 World Championship season starts on March 3 and 4 in Argentina. Before that happens, it will Jumbo No Fear Let's Go Honda team complete an intensive program of tests and training.
Stevan Vandeweyer, team manager:“I am very pleased that we were able to sign Micha and Marshal. It is their last year in MX2 for both of them, so they are super motivated to go all out with the new CRF250R. I would like this one Thank you to Honda Motors Europe, No Fear Energy Drink, Jumbo and all our loyal sponsors and partners for 2018.”
Micha Boy De Waal:“It's great that I can compete for the Jumbo No Fear Vamo Honda Racing team for a second year. I will be riding all European GPs and the most important Dutch competitions again. We have now resumed both physical training and motorcycle training and things are going really well. It is also nice to continue working with the same group of people. Our first race will be the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Markelo in March, so we want to be there right away. Then Valkenswaard comes up as my first GP race. I'm really looking forward to a strong year and I'd like to thank everyone in the team for their hard work preparing for 2018.”
Marshal Weltin:“I am proud to defend the colors of Jumbo No Fear Honda for 2018! Honda of course has a great reputation, so it is very exciting to drive the CRF now. So far the collaboration with Vamo has been excellent and I really feel like we have made a flying start together. Everyone on the team is just as motivated and hungry for success as I am. That's precisely why there is a good click! I'm ready to work hard in the sand in Belgium in the coming weeks. Argentina will be there quite soon but I'm looking forward to showing my commitment to the team and delivering results in 2018!”
