Jordi Tixier about his role as development rider for BOS KTM
The 2014 MX2 World Champion Jordi Tixier made his debut with the new BOS KTM team in the Paris Supercross. A good start for Jordi, who finished twice in the top 450 in his first races on the 10 SX-F. For 2018, however, Tixier starts with a dual goal.
The ex-Kawasaki factory rider is starting his third season in the MXGP, and he will also be involved in the further development of BOS Suspension. Olivier Bossard's brand has already achieved success in rally, autocross and mountain bike, but Bos Suspension also wants to break through at the top level in motocross.
For the 25-year-old Frenchman, returning to KTM also meant quite an adjustment after a total of three seasons with KX-F equipment. “Everything is still new at the moment and of course there is still a lot of work to be done. However, everyone works well together and we have one goal in mind: to reach the top in the MXGP,” said Tixier. Ultimately, Jordi even finished 7th in the King of Paris final rankings. “Everything went well in Paris, especially if you take into account that we had only been testing for barely a month. Two seventh places were more than I had hoped for but I had a good feeling on the bike.”
As a key figure in the Bos project, Tixier knows that it is not just about points and results - with the ultimate goal of his first MXGP podium - he also has the responsibility to improve materials and the setup. Previously, Livia Lancelot also rode with BOS technology in the WMX championship, but the late Steven Lenoir was also very positive about BOS suspensions.
“BOS indeed has no one in MXGP; they have some riders in the French championship but of course they want to keep evolving. Yet the basis is already very good,” Jordi explains. “We have already tested… but there is certainly still work to be done. BOS suspension is not yet well known, but it is a great product and I firmly believe in it. I'm sure we'll have a great setup next year. It's already pretty good now, now it's time to refine it.”
In his last GP for KTM in 2014, Tixier took victory in the Mexican GP in Léon, which also secured the MX2 world title after a dramatic World Championship final at the expense of Jeffrey Herlings. Last week it was announced that Tixier will have his fellow countryman Benoit Paturel alongside him as a teammate.
