Honda announces prices for revolutionary new 2018 MX models
Honda continues to build on its flagship models in motocross. In collaboration with HRC, the focus is continuously on weight savings, more top-end power and even better handling. Honda is taking a giant leap forward with the new revolutionary CRF250R and CRF450R for the 2018 season.
CRF450R
In 450, the Honda CRF2017R already received a new geometric frame, a lower center of gravity, race-ready 49mm Showa front fork with steel spring, 11% more top power and more torque across the entire rev range. From now on, the CRF450R is equipped with an electric starter and light lithium ion battery as standard. Everything with the thoughts of getting the absolute holeshot, improving rider confidence and all-important lap times.
CRF450RX
The race-ready Honda enduro machine. Including specific enduro suspension, PGM-FI and EMSB (Engine Mode Select Button) mapping, 8,5 liter fuel tank and 18-inch rear wheel. The Honda CRF450RX also has an electric starter and an ultra-light lithium ion battery. This system, partly due to the removal of the kick starter, results in a weight saving of 600 grams on the CRF450RX.
CRF250R
The completely new Honda CRF250R is equipped with the same chassis as the CRF450R and it has a completely new DOHC engine block. This new engine was built with a focus on high top power and an even higher speed range. The figures: almost 6 hp more power and a power range that has become 2.000 rpm wider and enters the red speed range 900 rpm later. In addition, the power-to-weight ratio has been improved by 5%. In a head-to-head encounter, the new model is 3% faster from 0-10 meters and 3,6% faster over the first 30 meters (that's half and a full engine length respectively). From 8.500 rpm, the new CRF literally leaves the previous model behind.
Last week the new Honda CRF250R was introduced to the European press and the first reactions were promising. Read here the MXMag test of Honda's new MX2 weapon.
