Coupe de l'Avenir launches Inter-federations Cup!
MC Hauts-Pays will provide a real first in 2018. In addition to the famous Coupe de l'Avenir, an Inter-federation Cup is also held in Baisieux. Mark October 6 and 7 in your diary!
For the 47th (!) time, promising drivers from all over Europe will compete against each other in a country competition in the Coupe de l'Avenir. After the MX of Nations, this race can safely be called a monument of its kind.
However, at MC Haut Pays, which took over the Couple de l'Avenir from founder Joël Robert, they are not resting on their laurels. In addition to the national teams, there will also be a real team trophy for all young Belgian riders. Just like with the Coupe de l'Avenir, the maximum age is 21 years.
Based on qualifying matches on Saturday, a “Coupe de l'Avenir” team is put together for Sunday to compete against the various national teams. The selection for this extra team will proceed as follows:
– The top 3 of the 65cc qualifiers;
– The top 3 of the 85cc qualifiers;
– The winner of the 125cc qualifying competition;
– The winner of the MX2 qualifier;
– The winner of the MX1 qualifier;
MX2 and MX1 races for non-selected riders will also be organized on Sunday. An inter-association ranking will be drawn up based on the results in each of the 7 matches during the weekend. There will also be an individual ranking.
So far, MC Hauts-Pays has already secured the participation of the BMB, FPCNA and AMPL. Each federation will send a selection of riders to Baisieux. Other federations would still join this organization. This means that the participation of the UMC (Union of Motorsport Clubs Flanders) is in any case on the right track.
In any case, the Inter-Federations Cup announces itself as a nice newcomer on the calendar that allows promising amateur riders to compete internationally in their own country. Add to that the unique Coupe de l'Avenir atmosphere, a spectacular circuit and excellent organization and you get a fascinating cocktail. Definitely to be continued!
