Axel Van de Sande leads French beach races for Jeffrey Dewulf!
There are still two rounds to go in the French beach racing championship. Although everyone is aiming for the king's race, the Enduropale in Le Touquet, the battle for the beach racing title is also raging. Official Kawasaki rider Axel Van de Sande is well ahead of the standings after the race in Hossegor last weekend.
The Belgian former winner of the Red Bull Knock Out has grown into one of the absolute specialists in the discipline in recent years. Van de Sande has been consistent so far: he came second in the opening round in Berck, fourth in Loon and eighth in St Léger. Axel reached the podium again last Sunday in Hossegor.
As a result, Van de Sande is currently in the lead with 38 points ahead of his compatriot Jeffrey Dewulf. There are still two races to go in the championship, the next race will take place in Grayan-et-l'hôpital in 3 weeks. Daymond Martens is currently twelfth, Ricky Claus is eighteenth.
Team manager Livia Lancelot: “We are happy that the red leader plate is back on Axel's bike for the next race! Axel crashed early in the race, damaging the engine. We had to make repairs during the pit stops, but Axel showed in the last part of the race how strong he is when the track is heavy and full of holes. The engines are running very well, and the team is becoming more and more experienced in the pit stops. Now there is one more match before we prepare for the grand final in Le Touquet.”
