When the flag falls...
Now that 2017 has finally entered the final stretch, we look back on the past year. Because all the disappointments and triumphs, the heroic hand-to-hand duels on the track, the drama and the excitement... They all solidify into numbers once the dust settles. Because 'but' and 'if' are long forgotten once the annual reviews have been published, the history books have been updated and the award ceremonies are over.
What can be said about competitions naturally applies just as well to the business world. Fortunately, we at MXMag know that we will soon cross the line after an excellent performance. That doesn't mean we're singing our own praises. Both our loyal and new visitors have made it clear that they appreciate our approach. From our MXGP and Supercross coverage to coverage of national and amateur motocross, motorcycle testing and so much more. All offered for free on a multilingual platform.
Without further ado, here's MXMag's final balance sheet for 2017:
– More than 2 million unique sessions and 4 million page views;
– An overall increase of almost 30% compared to last year
– A record increase of 125% in the Netherlands compared to 2016
We can only be grateful for the support we receive from our audience and a growing number of brands and organizations who share our vision and contribute to what MXMag does. Thank you!
All this would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and commitment of the MXMag editorial staff, our photographers and other helpers. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And even cooler is the fact that this is just the start.
In the first quarter of 2018 we will celebrate our tenth anniversary as a purely digital media company. It's incredible how quickly time passes, but with all the projects now in the pipeline at MXMag, one thing is clear; We are far from thinking about slowing down! That is the attitude that inspires the best riders to become even better and it is also the mentality that allowed MXMag to evolve from a local black-and-white magazine - which started in Wallonia in 1983 - into an international reference in its niche.
Thank you everyone for being part of this fantastic adventure.
Happy New Year!
Tom Jacobs & Olivier Evrard
PS A final congratulations to Tony Cairoli who won his ninth world title in 2017. The way he got back to his best form said everything about his class!
