Raf Meuwissen goes solo for 2018!
A new EMX team is born, it will bear the name of EigtyOne BCS Racing Team. The most important driver in the brand new team is undoubtedly Raf Meuwissen. The Limburger will compete on a KTM SX2018 in 125 and will compete in the entire European 125cc Championship, the Dutch Masters of Motocross and various ADAC MX Masters competitions.
After many discussions with various parties, it was decided to start up its own team around Raf. Partly thanks to the help of Ben Scheres (BCS) and Hans van Delden, who both put their best foot forward for the team. Another person who is experienced in guiding a young talent will provide his knowledge to the team in the background. Meuwissen has signed a 1-year contract with KTM Netherlands, which will provide the young talent with engines and the necessary materials. Meuwissen does not have time to rest, Raf will be staying at the Papendal sports center in Arnhem from September 1, 2017 to September 1, 2018. This unique project was set up by the KNMV and is supervised by national coach Marcel Hartman. Meuwissen is completing his final studies in Arnhem, and in the afternoon there are physical efforts and motorcycle training.
Meuwissen will stay in Italy for seven days in December for test work in January, followed by the KNMV winter internship in Spain. In February, Meuwissen will be at the start of the Italian championship in Mantova and will then be active in the Netherlands. The team will have a guest driver under its tent during the 2018 season, purely to gain experience. Furthermore, a word of thanks to HMX Racing in Veldhoven! “Over the past two seasons, HMX Racing (Huub Mesters) have given me the opportunity to develop and grow. For this I would like to thank the entire team around HMX Racing. Thanks to them I was never where I am right now.”
