ADAC SX: Soubeyras dominates in evening two in Stuttgart
Yesterday it had already become clear that “Fransoos” Cedric Soubeyras would be the man to beat in Stuttgart. The Frenchman managed to win both his semi-final, the head-to-head races and the final yesterday! A feat of art and repeating it was the goal on Saturday evening, and yes, the Suzuki pilot succeeded wonderfully!
In the extremely competitive field, Cedric Soubeyras, who competes in Germany in the Sturm colors, had to battle his compatriot and Suzuki pilot Thomas Ramette in his qualifying race. Both made it an interesting spectacle in which “Soub” proved to be the fastest ahead of Thomas Ramette and Kyle Cunningham. In the other qualifying series we saw another “Frenchman” take the victory. The KMP Honda pilot Fabian Izoird took the lead from Cole Martinez and Matt Goerke.
The boys who already showed themselves in the qualifying series also showed themselves again in the final. However, this did not start too well for Florent Richier, Tyler Bowers and Filip Neugebauer, among others, who were all held up in a crash at the start. This also involved Matt Goerke, who, after missing the final yesterday, immediately felt discouraged and immediately gave up. A weekend to quickly forget for the Yamaha pilot.
There was no waiting at the front, Thomas Ramette had in the meantime taken the holeshot and seemed to be able to open a gap. However, this gap quickly closed after Cole Martinez put pressure on Cedric Soubeyras, who was in second position, causing him to significantly increase his pace. Cedric Soubeyras in turn drove to Thomas Ramette and he went over it. His compatriot Thomas Ramette continued to make strong progress until a small mistake dropped him from second place to fourth. This put Fabien Izoird and Cole Martinez on the podium. Honda pilot Fabien Izoird went looking for the lead and unexpectedly saw it after a near crash by Cedric Soubeyras. But the latter corrected his mistake, came back to his positive position and thus stayed ahead of Fabien Izoird. It is already clear that the French are ready for their most important supercross of the season, the Paris Supercross! Oh and for those who still had doubts, Cedric Soubeyras is the new “King of Stuttgart” with a perfect report!
At the SX2 pilots, we saw the first start of the final canceled with a red flag, due to a crash by Dan Houzet and Gradie Featherstone. Both were therefore excluded from the restart. A restart that was immediately marked by a fall from the trendsetters of Friday evening. Both Iker Larranaga and Thomas Do crashed in the first corner. This cleared the way for a Dylan Walsh walkover! The British New Zealander finished fourth on Friday and now rolled clear to victory on Saturday! This for the Monster Energy Elf Pfeil Kawasaki duo Julien Lebeau and Nicolas Barcelo. After the final in which Iker Larranaga and Thomas Do finished a creditable fifth and sixth, it was time to count. With these results, who would now walk away with the overall victory and thus be crowned “Prinz of Stuttgart”. With just one point ahead of Julien Lebeau (22+20), Dylan Walsh (25+18), now competing for the Diga Procross Husqvarna team, won the title of “Prinz von Stuttgart”!
