Marvin Musquin also wins Red Bull Straight Rhythm
For the second consecutive time, Marvin Musquin took victory in the Red bull Straight Rhythm in Pomona California. Shane McElrath and Gared Steinke were the respective winners in the Lites and two-stroke classes.
Especially because of the very entertaining battle in the two-stroke class, the always-straight race that is held on an SX-like circuit in a straight line was looked forward to even more than usual.
In front of a packed house of 12.500 spectators, Musquin, who won the 1 million dollar in the Monster Energy Cup last week, showed that he is the strongest in this discipline. The MarvAttack has never lost a heat in all its participations. On the way to the final, he beat his new teammate Broc Tickle and defeated Josh Hansen in the final. Hansen, for the first time on Suzuki, performed excellently but had no story against Musquin!
In the Lites class it was all the more exciting, especially the semi-final between Alex Martin and Shane McElrath produced fireworks! All-rounder Ryan Sipes currently rides enduro, but combined the Lites and the two-stroke class in the Red Bull Straight Rhythm. In the semi-finals he had to give up on Troy Lee Designs KTM rider Sean Cantrell. Cantrell made it difficult for his teammate McElrath in the final, but the latter also managed to extend his Straight Rhythm title.
Ronnie Mac steals the show!
Unfortunately no Chad Reed in the two-stroke class because CR22 broke his ankle on Friday. Jordon Smith and Tavin Tapia also suffered ankle injuries. Ronnie Mac may be known for his crazy antics and love for beers, but he took this match very seriously. Jimmy “Ronnie Mac” Albertson first took out Ryan Morais and then Sipes! Ryan Villopoto also reached the semi-finals. To everyone's surprise, Gared 'Stankdog' Steinke knocked Villopoto twice. Exit RV! After a hard fall in the first run against Steinke, Ronnie Mac came back, but Steinke was simply too strong.
